și = and (that is in most cases)

It can also mean…also.

și = also

Here Iulia meets up with Ion -

Romanian

Iulia: Ce faci?
Ion: Bine! Si tu?
Iulia: Bine mulțumesc.

English Translation

Iulia: How are you?
Ion: Fine and you?
Iulia: Fine thank you.

NY translation  (add a bronx/brooklyn accent here)
Iulia: How you doin’ ?
Ion: Good and you?
Iulia: Fine thanks.

I seem to digress a lot :)

și = too, also

Sometimes confusing because when you are first learning you assume (assume = ass u me)* it means „and” and well my mind sometimes gets stuck on the first assumption and then i realize ooops it might mean too. Lest us not forget de asemenea the other form of also.

de asemenea = too, also

*important note about assume = ass u me – Do you know that saying? When you assume and don’t have anything to back it up well you might just make an ass of u and me :)
